In this mural, human figures symbolizing volunteers from diverse sections of society are depicted in a myriad of colours and scale; these figures connect the orchids, placing emphasis on the humanitarian aspect of volunteerism.
International Volunteer Day (IVD) on 5 December is an international observance established by the United Nations since 1985. It is a special day set aside to celebrate volunteerism and to pay tribute to the giving spirit of volunteers worldwide.
In celebration of IVD 2010 in Singapore, three murals with the theme of “Giving” were designed by Social Creatives, a non-profit organisation for the Arts, proudly sponsored by Deutsche Bank and later displayed at Marina Bay Link Mall.
